i replay this game every so often, and it's always just as good speedrunning with the max speed is so fun i can't wait for more stuff, i'm imagining stuff like themed levels- a jungle with a maze of treehouses, a desert with a pyramid maze, a volcano with rising lava or something, or even a horror-themed one would be cool so yeah thanks for making this it's one of my favorite games of all time
This game gets a solid 8/10. Really good stuff. Every level introduces something new, the images are very rewarding. Can't wait to see what the future holds for this game.
P.S. The Story should be something like, someone was jealous of Watame and turned her into Watamelon, and teleported her to some strange land... Now she must traverse this weird place to find images that help open up a portal, or something. Just an idea :P
New update's looking awesome (and some secret lines in the rap song)! I don't know if these are bugs or not, but I'll post them just in case. Version: 1.4, Windows
The first two are from level 2, the last one is from level 3 after picking rock and paper and losing. The third time I chose scissors but there was no retaliation and I won by default. Is it supposed to be a pity system?
You can reproduce this by moving the camera towards the cliff. I've only tried it in the spiral puzzle in level 2, near the place in picture 1. Instead of pushing the camera forward, it clips through.
P.S. As I was writing this, I tabbed back into the game and saw this lmao. It's in the same spot as picture 2. I couldn't control the smug watermelon looking at me, only the camera.
I really like the boat mechanic, that strikes me as something that could be fun to expand on more! Aside from levels more designed around it with currents and waterfalls and whirlpools and such, maybe an upgrade that lets you dash while in it, and/or cannons to attack enemies? Oh man, imagine a ship-based boss fight against Marine...
I had way too much fun with this game... Lullaby, rap, Miko's boat song, memes, friendly controls, forgiving with mistiming the jump and dashing mid-air. I did quite a lot of mistakes and it never punished me for it, which I then realized is extremely rare lately. I finished all 3 levels and will definitely play it again tomorrow. A fun 3D platformer game, it's been a while since I've experienced that. Also, the Tsunomaki Janken game was a surprise, but a welcome one.
One negative thing I noticed is that both the Janken and the background song play at the same time. How about (gradually) lowering the volume of the background song to around 10% when Janken is playing and when it is over (gradually) increase it again to the normal volume?
Cleared the newest patch, and the respawns seemed to work alright, but in some spots they could be abused to save time, so I'd suggest a time penalty for dying. Or a death counterat the very least. Here's some other suggestions that came to me while playing:
-Not sure how many songs there are in total, but could it be possible to make it a different one for every level?
-Having the BGM muted for the Tsunomaki Janken would make things less cacophonic, but I can also be a deliberate design choice and I'd respect that.
-It'd be interesting to see more variance in Watamelon's speed. As it is now there's the default speed and the charge speed. I think having Watamelon preserve momentum more would be interesting, and would work well with slope designs. I'm thinking of something like Hamsterball or similiar games.
-A personal high score list would be cool
-It would certainly make the game a bit harder but what if you couldn't steer Watamelon mid-air? It would make committing to jumps a more important skill. Also a way to adjust jump height by holding the jump button could work.
They're of course just suggestions since I'm no game designer :D
Your game makes me very happy and I'm excited to see what you'll come up with for the next update!
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate any kind of suggestions that I receive, so thanks for writing all of this, and I would definitely keep in mind some of those!
Very fun, I really like the shogun powerup. I messed around with using it to sequence break and I think it would be pretty fun to speedrun this game if you could gain more momentum with the dash or by bouncing on the ground.
I really like the new Shogun helmet. It feels like it'd be fun for speedruns and is very cute on Watamelon.
The new cards are, as always, fun.
The fourth level, the Shogun introduction, is fun, but I felt very worn out after a while due to its size. It got really repetitive having to roll back and forth to the same destination repeatedly every time I died, so if it wouldn't be too troublesome, I'd suggest maybe a sort of checkpoint system for the game?
Just a way to respawn closer to whatever you were doing previously instead of having to get there from the start of the level, every time. I feel it's kind of necessary because of the scale the levels are taking on. Maybe Watamelon could respawn at whatever dock she last docked at, and the player can take things on from there. It'd help the game flow a little better in casual play, too — again, because of the aforementioned rolling to the same point repeatedly.
Other than that though, game's still solid. I noticed the buff to Watame's speed, and I adore the new boat model (even if it would never realistically work, but then again, we're talking about a rolling watamelo-sheep collecting cards and going through watamelon portals here). Keep up the good work on this little thing!
Thanks for the comment! Yes, you are right that the respawn system is very simple. I am working on polishing the game overall right now, and that is something I will tackle.
It's a really fun game! If you continue and add moving platforms and enemies and such gameplay elements from other platformers you could have WataGame in no time! Moving is really responsive.

A cute game based on a funny little image; I had a good time. :)
Nice one
this is so weird, but so great
Amazing
Kinda wish there were more maps, shit I'd even take procedurally gen'd ones, it plays so good.
i replay this game every so often, and it's always just as good
speedrunning with the max speed is so fun
i can't wait for more stuff, i'm imagining stuff like themed levels- a jungle with a maze of treehouses, a desert with a pyramid maze, a volcano with rising lava or something, or even a horror-themed one would be cool
so yeah thanks for making this it's one of my favorite games of all time
hahaha so good :3
it's perfect, thank you for making this
This was extremely fun and gave me a good chuckle. Can't wait for more levels and the Story Mode. Good luck
THIS IS BEAUTIFUL THANK YOU
My only complaint is that I'd like a mouse sensitivity slider; the camera is a bit slow but still bearable
I love this game.
I would recommend that you add a mouse sensitivity setting to this game
Fast shogun watamelon is very fun to use.
Unable to get this item in 1.4.1 (Windows) no matter victory or defeat. It happens with the normal skin too.
Yep, sorry for that. It worked on the editor, I should have tested it. It should be fixed now.
high quality sheeppost
This was a lot better than i expected, gonna wait till there are more levels, keep up the good work!
A wonderful game, I hope for further development.

Solid game! can't wait for more levels.
When you bounce after falling/hitting the ground I find it so cute! I like the animation. Cool game!

Doesn't respawn after 8 seconds, unrealistic.
For real though, good job. I may be overthinking this, but would the bgm Miko is singing to cause any copyright issues?
Especially in case if Watame or anyone were to stream it?

Hey! That's a cool game!
Can't believe it took me this long to find it!
I only spent a short time playing your game but it was really entertaining. The boat mechanic was unexpected!
Good job!

By adding a Watamelon boat in the same place as the Mikochi Bop you have made this game objectively 102.4% more fun
Good game, Good Watamelons
10/10
please make previous versions available for download!
I have made them available.
Just end playing V1.1.... amazing new level and a lot of visual updates!!

This wip was pretty funny and great I like how it feels when you move around, hoping for more!
Let's all praise the Watamelon!
I LOVE THE MUSIC O MOCO MOCO
